Valerie Shearman - How to Dance in the Rain

As the as the Granddaughter of the Late great Chester Corbett country fiddler from the Calgary Stampede, Valerie's mother moved her family to Toronto at the age of 7 and as her mother fell on hard times and found she had to send the her 3 children into foster care. After their separation, she was put into a wonderful foster family that consisted of Piano and guitar teachers, a family of ten wonderful musicians.

“My Family enjoyed music every weekend and I found myself having to perform for them all” she says… Valerie Played the guitar at age 9 and began forming songs from that early age. In school she caught the ear of producer Terry Shields from the Oral Arts festival of Ontario, Terry new right away the talent Valerie had stored, and she was asked to perform with the Oral Arts festival of Ontario it was there she performed with many other gifted and talented students…with great success. Later she formed her own bands that included “The Midnight Angels”, and “Valerie and the Dream Catchers” and just… Valerie Shearman

Later in her life she met and married one of Toronto's finest talents Buzz Shearman of the rock group MOXY from the 80's they had a son Jesse and then in 1983 found herself alone to raise her son Jesse due to a fatal motor cycle accident that Buzz endured, and he was killed instantly. Unsure as to where to go from here, many of the music's finest companies pulled together offered to help Valerie and she found herself working for companies like Arc Sound Records, Q107, A&M Records, And Jazzfm Radio in Toronto.

Through those years Valerie really leaned on her music taking what she had learned from her talented husband Buzz, and made music her own, with a new outlook and new edge… The Mayor of Toronto Mayor David Miller has seen Valerie perform and say's “This girl is going places with these wonderful songs”.

Valerie Started focusing on writing her own original songs, and that's when things really started to take place for Valerie, her songs were turning heads of all ages… “you know they like the your songs when they start singing all the lyrics as well as I do” also they can relate to the stories in your songs “Valerie always had a knack for writing great melodies say's musicians in her band”, “you happen to sing them in your head all day”.

Valerie has performed for such events like The Sick kids Telethon performing songs “Don't ever say goodbye” on stage with the children from the hospital itself, also with Walt Disney's Wuzzels. Film and Television have used her music in such movies as “The Donor” featuring Jeff Wincott from “Night Heat”.

Valerie Shearman's CD- How to Dance in the rain
Is a light/rock style, these songs speak loudly on how Valerie feels about herself and the way things are today…

These new songs are from where Valerie came from and the lyrics reflect on how she feels about the world, men, and life.

Valerie says, “ I want to be an Artist who gives people hope through dark times, I want to be a soothing voice to calm the nerves of a tired overstressed world, I want to show women that they really can Succeed based on all talent, with confidence, hard work and strength of will.. I want to reach the people who still remember the world before it got this crazy, who desire to return to better times and more traditional values, like true love…I found my style, this is me” …Valerie
