Valerie Shearman is known on the Canadian music scene for her full bodied evocative vocals. A staple at adult contemporary radio and with three albums to her credit, Valerie continues to cross musical genre between Hot A/C, Rock and New Country. The current EP "Broken" reaches back to her rock n roll roots for a collection of power ballads in the spirit of Heart and Sheryl Crowe
Shearman's last radio single Do It All Over Again received significant airplay in Ontario and Quebec. Her Christmas song, Wishing Made It So has been an airplay staple at country radio during the holidays for the past two seasons. Shearman was also the principle in the movie The Donor starring Jeff Wincott. Six of Shearman's songs appeared on The Donor soundtrack.
For the EP "Broken" Valerie called on the services of well-known Toronto players including Sasha Tukatsch (Platinum Blonde), Juno award winning singer/songwriter Errol Starr, Canadian Idol's Zack Werner and singer/songwriter Richard McCue.
Valerie is a performing staple at public events, celebrations and shows. She's appeared on The Sick Kids Telethon, the Toronto Police Games at the Rogers Center and on Canada Day at Stan Wadlow Park, 3 years in a row. This spring she will be part of the Youth Day concert at Dundas Square on July-24th.
On June 27th Shearman's career takes another turn with the launch of Zack Werner's Summer Idol Camp at iSTARS music institute, where she'll be an instructor. The summer Valerie is hosting iSTARS "Mall Stars" auditions in the Greater Toronto area and organizing industry showcases featuring iSTARS students with Valerie performing.
Valerie Shearman continues to enjoy a positive and supportive relationship with the rock'n'roll sector of the Canadian music scene, as did her late husband Buzz Shearman of MOXY fame. Shearman says she derives musical inspiration from her late husband and if the sound of "Broken" is any indication, she's doing the Shearman legacy proud.
