ABOUT THE NEW SINGLE:

May 24 2011, Toronto, ON: ‘Broken, The Single.

This is ‘Broken’ a song from the heart, a song Valerie Shearman went to great lengths to create and record. This is no 9 to 5 factory songwriter’s tune nor is it the instant creation of a kid in the rec room with a laptop.

‘Broken’ is born of pain, longing and moving forward. Shearman’s vocals are those of an artist who’s lived the emotion, so no surprise that the seed of the tune is autobiographical.

I associate the song with when I lost Buzz to that horrific motorcycle accident ...and how hard it was to move ahead. Anyone who knew me back then knew it was real hard to get back on my feet. But I did”.

Using the style of Buzz as inspiration, Valerie has gone about carving out a performing and recording career of her own. ‘Broken’ is the first single form the Valerie Shearman reboot and it’s worthy of your time and ear. Written by Rick McCue , it's a tune Valerie heard on a visit to Studio92 and immediately fell for.

My passion is to support and help people with positive messages and give strength to those around me. I wanted to portray that in my songs, and ‘Broken’ was a perfect fit. It speaks of what life is like from the perspective of a person that was in love and how long and lonely the road to repair and recovery can be”.

Recorded at Metal Works studios with Gil Moore overseeing, ‘Broken’ is a power rock ballad that will evoke memories of classic voices like Nancy Wilson (Heart) and Sheryl Crowe. Backing Shearman on the tune are Sasha Tukatsch (drums), Martin Aucoin (Keys), Gene Falbow (Bass), Steve Shelski (Acoustic Guitar), Adam Langley(Electric Guitar,) and Doug Billard (Backing Vocals).

It all adds up to 3 minutes 17 seconds that fit snugly in that lucrative female power vocalist pocket, with enough familiar-sounding hooks to snag its share of airplay. ‘Broken’ is the leadoff single from a 7 song EP of the same name, due on July 04 2011. The single is set for release to Hot A/C & Rock Radio, Tuesday, May 24 2011.
